The Lauren Beam Foundation River Run 5K
The Lauren Beam Foundation River Run 5k is our second annual race, and we are excited to continue our annual tradition to celebrate Lauren Beam’s life and raise money for young men and women battling cancer.
After Lauren passed away in September 2011, Lauren’s fanclub of supporters (Team Beam), spontaneously organized an informal run in Central Park as a way to keep her unbelievable spirit and sheer determination alive. This annual run was born from that day, and represents something Lauren loved to do – run – as well as something that helps the human spirit defy the effects of cancer and fight it.
Online registration will close at noon on Friday November 7.
We have two shirts to offer:
*Long-sleeved navy Team Beam dri-fit technical shirt for $25 (regular price of $30) when you register for the race.
*NEW short-sleeved light blue Team Beam dri-fit technical shirt for $20 when you register for the race.
Shirts ordered with race registration will be available when you pick up your race packet.
Can’t race but want to buy a shirt? Order one at our store: Long sleeve, short sleeve and kids shirts available

Race Day Registration
We are limited to a maximum of 500 runners, so registration on race day will only be available if there is any space. We recommend you sign up as early as possible to be guaranteed a spot.
Race starts and finishes at Pier 46. Runners will head south, run around pier 45, run south to and around pier 25, then head north again, running once more around pier 45 and then to the finish.
The whole race is on the pedestrian area of Hudson River Park, so while it will be hard to go wrong, we promise there will be signage and volunteers along the whole route to help you – don’t worry, we will not let you get lost!
Please note that the course is subject to change and we have a two-hour time limit for people to complete the race. Thank you for your cooperation with this policy.
Spectators can catch the race anywhere along the race route in Hudson River Park. The start and finish line are at Pier 46 and there are great viewing spots at the turnaround at Pier 25.
Subway options include the 1 train to Christopher Street, or a little further away the A, B, C, D, E, F or M trains to West 4th Street, or the A, C, E, or L trains to 14th Street and 8th Avenue.
NUMBER & RACE PACKET PICKUP
Saturday, November 8, noon to 4:00pm.
Your Team Beam race-weekend fun will begin at the lobby of NYU’s Coles Sports & Recreational Center, 181 Mercer Street (between Houston Street and Bleecker Street), Manhattan. You’ll pick up your race materials, including your timing chip, race bib, and LBF t-shirt (if you order one), as well as other goodies.
You’ll receive an e-mail confirmation after registering online. Print and bring your email confirmation of your registration to packet pick up. That confirmation will include your bib number, which will help our staff direct you to get your race materials. You may pick up for yourself or for someone else (if you have prior consent from them.)
There will be race-day pick-up from 7.30am to 8.30am, Sunday November 9, at the start line, for people who register on the day of the race (pending availability). People who cannot pick up on Saturday can pick up race materials race-day also, but we recommend you pick up on Saturday to avoid any last minute delays.
